In early 2025, I found myself towing an old horsefloat crammed with tools, toys and other possessions accumulated during more than twenty years in Germany, heading south to begin a new life in an old stomping ground - Wānaka, Aotearoa New Zealand.
The journey oozed significance, as I passed landmarks and drove through towns unseen for over a quarter of a century.
I used that alone time to process a cocktail equal parts liberation and grief, excitement and fear, and that drive south is where the idea for this podcast was hatched.
That first horsefloat has since been resold, but early in 2026 a mate and I converted its replacement Flø - a former rental float - into the mobile recording studio you see here.
I tow Flø to a location of significance to my guests, drop the back flap so we can enjoy the view, and we sit together within its time- and space-bending walls, and see where our conversation takes us.
